GENERAL TECHNICAL ISSUES ---------------------------- Horizontal lines across the PLAY screen This can be caused by running the game in High Color (32,000+ colors) or True Color (16.7 Million colors). The game works best on a system configured for 256 colors. If you are already set in 256 colors, try switching the resolution. If you're using 640 x480, try 800 x 600. DirectX FYI: 3D Ultra Pinball 3 for Win95 installs and uses the DirectSound drivers, if you do not have them already. Win 32s When you install 3D Ultra Pinball 3 for Windows 3.1, Win32s version 1.3 is also installed. Win32s is a set of Microsoft files that updates Windows 3.1 or 3.11 so it can run 32-bit Windows programs. If you have software that uses an older version of Win32s Microsoft Win32s setup will detect and update the appropriate files. Error messages indicating an improper WIN32S or WinG installation Reinstall Win32S and WinG from the 3D Ultra Pinball 3 CD. From Windows, choose File, then Run. Type in the following command, substituting the appropriate drive letter if your CD ROM drive is not "D". D:\WIN32S\DISK1\MYSETUP.EXE Then click the OK button & follow onscreen instructions for installing Win32s. After Win32s installation is complete, go back to File, then Run, and type in: D:\WING\MSSETUP.EXE Again, click OK and follow onscreen instructions for installing WinG. After installation is complete, exit Windows, then restart so that the changes can take effect. "This File is Not a Windows Help File" Error in Win 3.1 While the 3D Ultra Pinball 3 Help will open correctly from within the game in Windows 3.1, you will probably get this error if trying to open the Help from outside of the game. There's a simple fix. Open your Windows File Manager. From its FILE menu, select ASSOCIATE, and then associate all help files (Files With Extension: HLP) with the updated Windows Help viewer WINHLP32.EXE in your Windows/System directory. NOTE: You should change the .HLP files association back to the original WINHELP.EXE again if you delete your Win32s files later. "This file was created for language not supported by your version of Windows." Or "Error in Help file 1024" Windows 3.11 is not set up to use 32-bit file accessing. From Program Manager, Double-click on Main, then on Control Panel, then on the 386 Enhanced icon. Click on Virtual Memory, then on Change. Put a check mark in the box that says "Use 32 bit file access", then click on OK and restart Windows. III. GENERAL GAME ISSUES ------------------------ Normal Window vs. Full Screen 3D Ultra Pinball provides a Full Screen option (available from the Windows menu on the menu bar) to allow users with high resolution (greater than 640x480) systems to take advantage of the entire screen. Selecting Normal Window will provide a clean 640 x 480 play screen. Optional Install We have provided this install option for Windows 3.1 systems that have less than 12 megs RAM. If you are experiencing system errors while playing The Lost Continent try changing your detail settings from the Preferences screen. Disabling Ambient Animations & Sounds will significantly decrease memory requirements. If you continue to experience system errors try re-installing with the Optional install option. Pinball is Better in Win95 To enjoy all the features of 3D Ultra Pinball 3, we recommend that you run it on Windows 95. Windows 95 will allow you to enjoy joystick support, superior multimedia, and generally faster, smoother performance. IV.
