Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WINDOWS 95 ---------- Once you have placed the Star Trek pinball CD into your PC's CD-ROM drive, the installation of Star Trek Pinball should automatically start. If you have disabled the 'AutoPlay' feature then double click either "Window's Explorer" or the "My Computer" icon. Search for your CD-ROM drive (usually D:) and double click that to reveal the contents of the Star Trek Pinball CD. Select 'setup.exe' from the list of files on the root directory of the CD. DOS --- At the Dos Prompt, change the directory to your CD-ROM drive (usually D:) by typing "D:" and hit return. Then type "Install" and press the return key. This will start the installation and setup procedure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. Playing the game ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WINDOWS 95 ---------- To begin Star Trek Pinball, if your autorun is enabled simply reinsert you Star Trek Pinball CD after installing and the game will launch and take you to the main menu. Other wise go to your start menu and click on the Star Trek Pinball shortcut under Programs/Interplay/ST Pinball. DOS --- At your C: prompt change to the directory where the game is installed. If you installed to the default directory you would type CD\INTRPLAY\STPIN . Once you are in the directory, to start the game type STPIN . KEYS WHICH CANNOT BE USED Note that the program doesn't allow the ALT, CTRL and \ KEYS to be used as part of the keyboard configuration. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Trouble Shooting ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ REMOVING THE CD Do not take out the game CD during loading as this could cause the game to crash. The only time it is recommended to take it out is to play a music CD while playing one of the tables. The game CD will have to be replaced to change tables or when quitting the game. If you do decide to change CDs for music, please disable the autorun feature. REDBOOK AUDIO PAUSES Some CD-ROM drives may cause the game to pause as they are changing Redbook Audio tracks. If you find this to be a problem you can remedy it by turning the Music off in the Sound Options Menu on each table. DISABLING WINDOWS 95 SHORT CUTS Because Star Trek Pinball is a Dos based game, the multi- tasking and shortcut properties need to be turned off. To do this go into the Star Trek Pinball directory (if you have installed it into the default location this will be c:\intrplay\stpin) right-click with the mouse on the stpin.bat file and go into 'properties'. Now select 'misc.' page and deselect the 'Allow screen saver' and all the 'Windows shortcut keys' (i.e. make sure all the relevant check boxes are empty); Note: now Windows features like ALT-TAB will not work. If you are using a Windows 95 keyboard, do not press the Windows Key(Start Menu). When pressed the game will be minimized to the Task Bar and you will not be able to restore it. Due to it not exiting out of the game properly the computer will need re-booting as the keyboard setup will be incorrect. BOOTME If you have problems running Star Trek Pinball, we have included a utility on the CD call Bootme. This utility will create a bootdisk which will allow you to boot your computer with the most available memory. For instructions on how to use bootme please read the readme.txt in the bootme directory on the CD. DIRECTORY WITH A SPACE IN THE NAME In Windows 95 you are able to create directories with a space in the name. Star Trek Pinball is a DOS title and will not run if you installed it into a directory with a space. If you have done so, uninstall the game and install it to a directory without a space. KEYBOARD FUNCTIONS (During a local game on Nemesis table) You may encounter some difficulty when playing locally (two people on the same keyboard) on the Nemesis table. To avoid trouble: Do not use the Left or Right Shift Key for player one or two. If you are using the left and right arrows do not use 4 and 5 on the number pad because the keyboard will recognize these as the same keys as the arrows and it will interfere with your game play. HARD DRIVE SPACE At times errors may occur during install if you do not have enough disk space on your system. Please make sure you have at least 15 megabytes of disk space. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Vulcan Fury Demo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ During the installation of Star Trek Pinball, we have added a demo of one of our future titles VULCAN FURY. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6.
