Pro Pinball - The Web FAQ's --------------------------- Whenever I try to run the game it comes up with a memory error, how do I stop this happening (DOS version)? Pro Pinball - The Web requires 3MB of total free memory. The quickest and easiest way to free this up is to use the Bootdisk Maker For Windows from our Download Library on our WWW pages. Why do I get 'error initialising CD-ROM routines' (DOS version)? This is caused by the game being unable to read from the CD and is usually the result of your CD-ROM drive not being activated. If you get this error try typing D: (or the letter relating to your CD-ROM drive.) If you receive the message 'invalid drive specification' it means your CD-ROM drive is not currently activated. Try using the Bootdisk Maker For Windows from our Download Library . If you still encounter problems please contact the supplier of your machine and ask them how to activate the CD-ROM drive in DOS. Why can't I hear any music during the game? This is most commonly caused by the CD Line, CD, or CD Audio feature on your soundcard having its volume turned right down. Try running the mixer or mixerset program for your sound card and turning the volume up. NB: after doing this you will need to reset the computer before playing the game. It is also possible that you don't have a line from your CD-ROM drive to the speakers on your machine. Try playing a normal music CD through your drive using the Windows CD player program. If there is no music the line is not present and the Pro Pinball music will not be heard. How do I change the CD music volume during the game (Windows 95 version)? We were unable to find a way to control the CD volume that would work consistantly on all Windows 95 systems. We hope to fix this in the future, but for now you have to use the "Volume Control" properties, usually accessible either from an icon in your system tray, or from the Start menu under "Programs / Accessories / Multimedia". Why can't I hear any sound effects during the game (DOS version)? This is normally caused by your sound card being incorrectly configured and is particularly common on Windows 95 equipped machines. Try running the Setup, Configure or Diagnose program for your sound card and auto-detecting the sound settings, save these then reset the machine before playing the game again. Occasionally, the ball seems to pause for a split-second, why does this happen? If 'Music Restart' in the main Options is set to 'Instant' the game will give priority to the Music and may cause the graphics to jerk occasionally. Try setting this option to Quick or Slow. When I run the game the screen is completely blank or displays garbled graphics, why is this (DOS version)? Type INSTALL from within the game directory and try using the UNIVBE graphics driver. If you have already done this try selecting Built-In VESA. When I quit from the game (particularly the DOS version), the keyboard prints up incorrect characters when I type, how can I stop this? Occasionally whilst playing, the keyboard can miss you letting go of a key, say CTRL, and thinks you are still holding that key when the game quits. Try pressing and letting go each key you use whilst playing the game. Usually this will return your keyboard back to normal. Sometimes after playing the game, the desktop has changed resolution, or some of my Windows / Icons have been moved, why (Windows 95 version)? This appears to be a function of DirectDraw. If this is fixed in a later release of DirectX, you should be able to upgrade to that version, and run the game as usual. You may find that if you already had a version of DirectX installed in your system, it gets overwritten even though it is newer than the one included with The Web. In such cases you may experience strange effects on your desktop, and you might find you are unable to run some older DirectX games. Since there is no facility for DirectX to make backups as it installs itself we suggest that you backup your system before installing the game. If you experience such problems, try contacting Microsoft's or your system manufacturer's technical support for more help. The display is corrupt on some mode when playing on a Matrox MGA Millenium Video Card, how can I stop this (DOS version)? The DOS version of the game may allow you to select the 800x600x32k screen mode from the options screens, but when the table is loaded, the display is corrupted. If this occurs, either use a different screen mode or use the Windows 95 version, which does support this screen mode. | TECHNICAL SUPPORT | If you have any questions about this, or any other Interplay product, you can reach our Customer Service/Technical Support Group at: Interplay 16815 Von Karman Ave. Irvine, Ca 92606 Attn: Customer Service.
